Black Australorp pullet having problems walking.

So sorry she isn't doing better. I hope you don't have to cull her. I hope she pulls through.

She is the same right now. I don't see any signs of improvement at all. She will still eat and drink but cannot walk. She flaps her wings to move. She feels very skinny since her breast bone is very pronounced. I don't know what else I can do or give her. This is the first time I have ever had a chicken do this in all of the years I raised chickens.

I did call the lady I bought these from and she said she has not had this problem from any of her chickens. She bought all of hers from a local hatchery but didn't know if they were vaccinated or not. She doesn't think so. She may have to be culled tonight because we are going out of town tomorrow and there is no one to give her any special care.

I've been watching all of the other chickens for the same symptoms but I have not seen anything yet. I hope I don't.

Sorry about your hen, Wayne. I'm going thru the same thing with 6 of my 10 chicks (14 wks) gone. I've never experienced this before. I have hatched all my chickens here.....except for 1 pullet I bought a few years ago. And I can trace my losses to her. It just takes one.

Hopefully, if the rest are 5 months old, they are building resistance.

Just an update. We did have to cull it since it wasn't getting any better and was starting to use one of it's wings to balance itself.
