Hi! I am new to this forum and have been enjoying reading lots of the posts! I have a question for y'all. We got some chickens off of Freecycle from a lady who bought them at a Farmer's Market and changed her mind. They were young (not sure the age, but still fluff - 2 or 3 weeks?-she only had them a couple days) and were "supposed to be" all female. Now that they are a bit older (maybe 9-10 weeks?), I am not sure, but think one of these black beauties is more of a handsome variety. lol I am new to this breed and only have 2 of them (the rest are Rhode Island Reds). The things I notice that are different about this one than the other: bigger feet, feathers have more green/purple shine to them, the comb and wattles are redder and may be slightly bigger, and the tail feathers are shorter and have curled upward. Definitely has more spunk and initiative than the other hens. Oh, and the face is all black where the other has a few small patches of white - although, I am thinking that is just an individual characteristic.
Here are pictures of them, although not that great, probably. It's hard to get good shots. lol
The one drinking from the waterer is the one in question. The coloring is not that great with the sun shining on the face.
A decent shot of the curly tail feathers.
