These little brats are my little mystery chicks. Very flighty, energetic and quick. They have black feathers and black legs. White earlobes and a single comb. Can you help me and tell me what they are? They came from TSC back in April (Easter Saturday to be exact). Thanks for looking.

They appear to be black Minorca bantams.

It probably depends on which hatchery your TSC gets their chicks from -- but good luck finding that out.

I think some TSC get their chicks from Ideal, Privett and Townline, probably others.

They could be young White Faced Black Spanish bantams--the white face is often slow to develop. I think WPBS are fairly common at hatcheries. Privett also has black Dutch bantams.

Based on their carriage, I think they are either Black Minorca bantams or White Faced Black Spanish bantams, but it's difficult to tell which. How old are they?

Thank you for the replies. They are just about 5 months old. I've read that Minorcas are not super people friendly, would rather not be held etc and that would describe these chicks. I'll try to get some better photos today.

Here are my little cockerels again. They are 26 weeks old now. The one is starting to get some white on his face, his brother appears to as well, but not very much. Their earlobes are much longer now too so I'm quite sure that rules out Dutch bantam.

They're looking like White Faced Black Spanish to me. Minorcas and Dutch bantams generally have smaller earlobes.

I'm thinking that they are White Faced Black Spanish bantams. I've never seen a Minorca bantam (though they do exist).
