Black birchen marans roo?

I was told this was a black birchen marans cockerel. Is that true? The chicks I bought were all supposed to be BCMs, but he showed up. Is he worth something in any kind of breeding program? What should I do with him?

Hi Floyd,

Unless you plan on breeding Birchens I would move him out. I can not say for sure but there appears to be a Brassy look on the wing feathers in the Silver plumage. They both have plenty of leg feathers. I have Birchens and love my birds. I am sure you can sell him for $10 to the right person. IF you do want to breed Birchens you may try and get some or find some all Black and use them. I have one nice ole cock who when I took to some feathered shank girls has produced 2 knock out males. So IF you like them try and get an all black girl to use and make some and see.
