No that is not quite right.....the blue and black will be slate and could be various shades of it. The splash birds are different.... their legs will look more white to blueish. The blue gene will dilute the leg color too.

Splash birds are pure breeds and will breed ture. They sre usually not an apa color variety. Some breeds they are accepted but not most.
Okay that is great news this is a blue splash and what you described is what they look like white to blueish thanks

Hi looking threw the site as i have been working on my blue Marans and Columbian Wyandotte bantams for quite a while now - My blues after two seem to turn a bit more gold in the hackle then they had maybe the sun is bleaching them some and i hope this does not happen to the lavenders .
I have a doz nice lavenders that are about 3 months old now . I will use my blue to cross in as i could not get a good black like yours as I tried to find one . your are nice my i got a few combs that came that way a few years back they did not show well at the show but the color was mentioned in them as being good ,

wanted to add a photo of the chicks as well this season my foot feathering is better in these then the blues .

Hey guys

Hi guys! I have some Marans I was wondering what their color is, and which of the males would be best to keep for breeding with the two females I have. I also have two female wheaten Marans and a white as well.

Thanks for any advice you can offer :)

Chick # 1: cockerel (very little feather on legs so far)
