Friends of mine have been working on solid blue, and resulting solid black, large fowl Brahmas for a few years now. Red bleed though on hackle and shoulder has been an issue with some males. With the clamp down on shows and swaps in Ohio this year I have not talked to them about how this years birds are looking.
I would suspect any black Brahmas, if you go back far enough probably have some Cochin blood, or possibly Wyandotte or some such outcross to bring in the color.
