Black/brown growth and drooping comb on my rooster

Hello everyone! It has been some time since I have posted here. Recently my sweet rooster, Joe, started developing this odd growth on his comb. At first, I thought it may be a scab. He usually has scabs on his comb, as you can see, since the other chickens do attack him sometimes. Today it looked to be a bit bigger though, so I am concerned. His comb also seems to be more droopy than usual. His comb is huge so it does usually fall a little bit to the side but not usually this much. I thought I saw another one like this on the other side of his comb before, but then I guess it fell off? It left a hole in his comb where it was. However, not certain if it was the same thing or just a scab where someone might have pecked him or something else. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

How is his behaviour? As usual? Black scabs on comb can be a sign of severe dehydration, pecking from other chickens and dry pox.
His behavior is normal, happy rooster. He’s been drinking and eating regularly as well. He’s blind so we do help him eat and drink 2-3 times per day when we’re doing other chicken tasks, just to make sure he’s doing well. He is pretty good at finding his food and water by himself though. I’m not familiar with dry pox.

I’m not sure, I’m afraid to touch it. He doesn’t like to be touched in certain places and won’t always stay still, I don’t want to hurt him. I’ll have someone help me hold him and see if it’ll come off soon.
Well, it's a good idea to feel of the growth/scab/debris(?) so you have a better idea of what it is.
Having someone help is good! If you need to, wait until he's roosting at night, then grab him. You can swaddle him in a towel to help capture his wings, this will make it easier to handle him.

Let us know what you find out :)

What did you find out?
Sorry for the delay! Shortly after this post it fell off by itself. What was left is just a chunk of his comb missing, right in the curve of where it already leaned over before this, so now it’s just extra floppy. Due to this outcome I’m pretty certain it was just an odd looking scab. He’s perfectly fine now! 🐔
