Black Chicks specifically!

X 2 - the most likely answer is BSL, but knowing where they came from will help to narrow that as there are other types they *could* be but many of those are less likely to be found in farm stores, etc where many folks are picking up their chicks this time of year

Along with the black babies it looks like I got Speckled Sussex babies and a Rhode Island Red (or so I think, I'm probably dead wrong hahaha)

I got them from Atwood's ranch and home and they were just sold as "pullets" no other information.

That all but seals it that they are likely BSL -- they'll feather in mostly black with some degree of copper "leakage" in their collar (neck/chest) area and sometimes throughout the body as well. They can vary a LOT in final appearance from one bird to another due to actually being the result of cross breeding.

Were the SS marked as such or also just sold as "pullets" - asking as there are several breeds who are "chipmunk marked" as chicks like a speckled sussex - sometimes leg color, etc can be used to differentiate this early on, for other chipmunk marked breeds it's a matter of waiting for ear lobe color to develop (Welsummer vs. Brown Leghorn, for example)

The man at the store said they were Speckled Sussex but they could very well be Welsummer for all I know. The sheet that they had displayed said they have "buff orpingtons, Sussex, white leghorns, Rhode Island Reds, Sexlinks, silkies, Wyandottes and many more!" (I may be missing one or two, those are the ones I wrote down to look up) so I honestly couldn't tell you exactly. I do know my little chipmunk babies have puffy cheeks if that means anything?

Ooo! Well I'm excited either way with any type. I'm just happy to be here really haha! Once they get a bit bigger I will take more pictures and upload them, hopefully they'll be easier to name hahaha!
