I hatched 2 birds today that look just like yours, black with white wing tips. One egg was blue and the other looked like a welsummer egg would look, though they're mixed chicks. I hatched another blue egg and the chick was solid yellow, didn't expect that.

5 pages isn't long guys.
Hear me Out, I saw the title of the post, then said to myself. You are too late at 6 pages long the first or second post would have replied successfully, so I get to the third page and I am about to lose it. am I on the correct side of the forum?(breeding and genetics). I can't believe that this is the first time anyone here(before the correct answer) learns or hear that "Self Lavender" are actually black underneath.

I have never bred or hatched anything before except purebreds once from a hatchery. All my other birds were bought. I think I read somewhere that you can get half black and half lavender or split to lav or whatever sometimes but didn’t really connect it that the chickens would be black underneath. I thought the Lavs bred true. Plus had no clue what would happen mixing it with other breeds and colors. I know a lot about different breeds and care and stuff but not really much of anything about genetics and breeding as this is my first rooster
