Black Cochins, what do you think?

they were large foul... i bought them from a breeder at a chicken swap...
i was just wondering, because chicken swaps are coming up and i just wanted to know what everyone thought of these people's birds...

Yeah, They do look like Black Cochins.

Did you keep any of their other birds to maturity? Keep in mind- many people sell their "culls" at swaps. But with a bird like LF cochins, I would not judge juveniles unless you have seen the parent stock and they are overly faulty.

Definitely, My Black Rooster was very homely for a long time and now he looks better than his Daddy!

i know, that's what i was wondering, they seemed helpful enough, showing me which of their birds were better and why, but it's hard to trust people, i guess... sad as it is..

... and i did not keep the birds until maturity... somehow they "disappeared"... which sounds very strange, i know... All i know is that we left the house for about an hour, and all of the chickens were in their coop/run... when we came back, 3 chickens were missing: our silver laced polish, and those two cochins... all of our buff orpingtons and normal layer chickens were still there... not a feather was on the ground or out of place... all of the doors were shut tight. none of the birds were small enough to have been dragged through the wire... no holes under or over the run... we're pretty convinced they were stolen... a few disgruntled people in the area have chickens... wouldn't surprise me. they only took the decorative chickens... left the layers alone...
