Hello everyone this is my first post. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their help. To make a long story short, 2 months ago I purchased a five-week-old sex black Copper Maran. Fast forward two months now she is 3 months old and is starting to look like a rooster to me. Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this chicken pictures are attached. Note: I am new to the bcm breed.

Voting female. I have one that looked like yours at that age. Wattles and comb are not huge as if it were for a cockerel for the same age. No pointy saddle feathers either. Pointy tail feathers don’t mean much in this case. She won’t have those pointy tail feathers for long. She’s cute

Pullet. Marans boys show themselves very early. Unless it's a slow developer - and by that I mean still isn't feathered out at 4 weeks at which point you get suspicious (but I currently have a slow feathering pullet). Normally you can tell by 5-6 weeks. Boys get huge combs early.

Where did you get this bird? It's clean legged which isn't common. I've seen more clean legs in hatchery stock cuckoo marans but not so much in BCM. Makes me wonder if it's really a mix. Can you show pics of it standing on its own?

I got here from a breeder in southern california in Temescal Valley. The bird came from English lines which is why she has clean legs versus the French standard with feathered legs. She's really fast this is the best picturesI could get today.

She's really pretty! That explains it - I'm on the other side of the country and seems everyone goes for french standard around me.

Beautiful pullet, without a doubt. :) Those funky tail feathers are simply unique to her, and may even exchange for more normal hen plumage later on. Also, I believe we'd be seeing some red in the shoulder/saddle, as well as MUCH larger comb and wattles.
French vs. English standard Marans truly shock me as far as how different they are. My Black Coppers have been heavy-bodied and feather-legged, while your girl is more on the slender side and clean-legged. I must say, she's lovely! :love
