I bought my first 4 BCM's yesterday (3x 2mo pullets and 1 cockerel) for $20.

I thought it was a great deal and was wondering everyone else's experiences with the pricing of this breed (IE - hatching eggs, day-old chicks, male vs female, pullets, and laying hens & roosters)?

Definitely a good deal. Here in California you can expect to pay $10-20 for a pullet chick and $30-40 for a juvenile pullet. Perhaps $10-$20 for a cockerel. That's not breeder stock, that's hatchery stock. Breeder stock is even pricier.

We can not judge the quality of Marans by the price. The price is controlled by sellers that get their name out before the prospected buyers. High price does not mean they are high quality. How about posting some pictures ?

I understand that there will be a range in quality of birds as in (breeders, sellers, hatcheries, show birds etc). But I'm only speaking in a general sense, not that I'm trying to appraise an antiquated relic for an auction or a holy relic :)

These aren't the best pics, however it's a rainy overcast day here in the bowels of Alabama. Of course there is a teenage Barred Rock huddled in the middle of the Black Copper Marans.
