I can't speak for Marans in particular but I know most breeds have a different eye color as babies than they will after they mature! I would assume by 12-ish weeks you'll have a good idea of mature eye colorI see, that is good to know. I am just starting on breeding Black Copper and Blue Copper Marans. I have two cockerels one is Blue and the other is Black, and eight chicks. So I'm headed outside in the duck weather(rain) to see what color their eyes are. Would the chicks already have copper colored eyes?
Right now I assume their eyes are a bluish color?
