You can usually start to see some copper coming in the hackles around 6 weeks and in some even earlier, but it can take some time to come in on the wing bow, back and saddle areas. They will change alot by age 6 mos. and even then they can still change and get more copper at a slightly more mature age. How old are they?

I'm not 100% sure. I was told 14 weeks, 10 weeks and also 6weeks. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow.

Here's Sherman. His legs aren't bare, but they don't have a much feathering. The gal looking over his tail has a little too much leg feathers so I'm looking forward to their babies. The booty in front of him is the blue pullet and he's hiding the other two. He's already gained a bit of weight. All are Wade line.

The breeder's eggs weren't quite up to par. He said he gets an 8 now and then but the eggs I saw were a good bit lighter. I met a breeder with perfect egg color, but he tried to rip us off (and couldn't keep his eyes to himself.) So I chose the nicer person. These birds were also ALOT cheaper than the creep's birds. I may order some eggs from the creep later, but not till I do ok with these.

Howdy Y'all

The hens look very different from each other - - - are they from the same breeder?

The roo - - could we get a better picture - - one full face and chest, the second photo from the side ?

All from the same. Three are alike, then Andy has more on her neck, and Shoestring is mostly black. Conan is the Man! I'll try for better pics of them . Think we get rain tomorrow...Thanks for the photo tip atleast for now! I'll be seeing y'all soon.

Here are some pics of one of my 7, 14 week old FBCM roos, supposed to be Bev Davis lines. I do not like the overall impression/body type of him, but I don't know much

(yet!). I have some questions about his colour. He is much lighter than his siblings, almost what I would describe as "straw" colour. Is he a definite cull based on colour or something that could be usefull in a breeding program if he matured with a desirable conformation?

Here he is with one of his siblings. When free ranging it is tough to get good pics of these little guys!

Does the darker copper colour ever come in later or do you either have it or not?
Here is another sibling which I like much better

I just started reading this thread today. So far I have made it to pg 5. I hope to read it all the way through and I am very thankfull for the pictures. I can read an sop all day long and still not know what they are talking about since I am a visual person when it comes to something like this. Hopefully this will help me out when I get eggs from the mail man at moms work.

Can anyone help me out with a name of someone who has Blue Copper Marans? I am trying to rebuild my flock after selling my hatchery Brahmas and I love the look of the Blue Coppers. I would like to try and set some after the eggs I am getting today (hopefully) hatch.
