Congrats!!

Speaking of splash that reminds me I need to take some pics of my long legged jackrabbit splash copper cockeral. I have another splash baby a few wks old. Praying that it will be a girl. I just think the splash hens are so pretty. This one doesn't seem to have as much copper or darker splash patches as the other one did at this age. It is big for its age though soooo probably another roo grrrr.

Not necessarily a boy... don't go there... I had a monster of a hen... you all remeber Annibelle the Cannibal... She outwieghed anything to date.. including roosters.. she is a big thing... she was splash.. Bev Davis line... Nicest looking hen I have ever seen... too bad she thought her offspring were finger lickin good.. Bad mama hen.

Of course I remember Annibelle, she is one of my all time fav marans girls that I have seen pics posted of. Yeah some of those BCM girls at the show were absolutely huge, big as some roosters and fatter lol. The pics do not do them justice!

So you saw my boy??? number 3??? He would have checks and circles on his card... I still haven't gotten pix of him yet... I heard he was huge... So glad to know!!!

She laid a number 6 always.. whenever I got a look at it.... She was a hideos egg eater.. Tried everything.. She was one of the nicest looking hens I have owned... I didn't make her.. Bev did.. She was positively to die for.. too bad she was soooo fickle...I used every trick in the book and then rehomed her to someone willing to give it a whirl. I just couldn't sit there all day and wait for an egg... She was lightening fast at getting them the minute they were laid... I would have loved to use her on a good male.. Just didn't get enough eggs to warrant a hatch.. She was quite the instructor also... I thought she would quit when I put her in the geriatric and broody pen... (aggresive broodies) and then she went to eating chicks at hatch.. that was the last straw... She was as fat as a tick though!!!

How horribly disappointing that must have been. I can't imagine having to get rid of your all time favorite. I wonder if that is a genetic thing that could be passed on....Too bad Jan.

Marans Chicken Club of the USA and Marans of America Club. You should have said something....I have an extra one that I would have sent with your eggs.

That would have meant thinking ahead

BTW, spoke with my postal person this afternoon and they are going to call me when the packages arrive - no problem.
She said they usually have the USPS shipments arrive around 7:30am for the day. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes it on Friday AM rather than tomorrow, but tomorrow would be a bonus anyway.
I asked her if they get many egg shipments - she said no but they do get the chicks from time to time. Her question to me was "will they be alive?"
Stay tuned...
