Black Copper Marans discussion thread

Hey y'all! I'm looking to sell my trio of black copper marans. They're all great quality, and have feathering down the legs. The rooster doesn't have much left after getting in a bad fight, but used to have to most out of all of them! Asking $30 obo
very nice bird ( little halo) i would use him in a heartbeat . Body type/balance is more/most important and he looks to have it (type and body balance is hard to find) .
Halo can be useful with certain(blacker) hens .... i'm getting no halos out of nice(good genetics) cock with halo for 2 yrs now , even bred to his daughters .
Don't think my cock is nice as yours .
APA standard calls for light (small amount) leg feathering .

Where do you live ? do you know anything about his background ?

Thanks

I live in North Ga. I bought him and the two hens as chicks and have had the hens for two years, him for 3, he's been a great flick leader, and throws beautiful chicks, (better than the original hens from what I've seen) but I'm trying to keep a sustainable flock, and simply have too many of his offspring.

I just can't imagine!

I did not specify before but the Male should not be used in anyone's breeding program as he has some white in the tail feathers. The only way to get rid of the white is just do not use anything with White as a breeder. Don
Honestly, I didn't even see the white feathers until you pointed it out... Didn't even know he had them. I guess they're usually covered up. I already sold the trio to a guy who wanted to breed for clean legs, and the rooster had pretty sparse feathering. He took the hens because he had to.

Definitely had no idea I was being dishonest by selling the. As a breeding trio.
