Black Copper Marans discussion thread

I started hatching some of my eggs. Only getting average of 5 or 6 eggs from the pair I have. I hatch 3 this past week and one of the chicks had copper on both sides of its hackle feathers. Is that nbormal for chicks to have copper when they first hatch. 

Can you post a picture? I can't picture that at all.

You dont really need much more confirmation. Don kinda knows his stuff. But the grayish tone to his feathering denotes blue as opposed to black. Just a dark blue.

Is this a blue copper marans, or a black copper marans? I bought him as a chick, and he looked like the typical black copper marans. But now that he has gotten older, his feathers have been turning blue.

How long did he look black? I am just wondering!

He started turning blue when he was about 2 months old.

I thought this was a pullet, but the comb and wattles have started to redden. It's 10 weeks now. What do you all think?
