Black Copper Marans discussion thread

Here's a copper blue pullet I wanted to share with you all, that I like REALLY WELL!!! On my blues, I had decided to completely ignore white bleed, and go for nic size, good feet and eggs, good overall conformation. Here pops out this VERY LARGE, beautiful pullet with NO white bleed showing under her hackles, no spots on her flights, just a couple of tips on her feet are white. She doesn't show much coppering, but what she is showing is very nice, dark copper color. She doesn't have any feathers on her middle toes either. If I was going to show copper blues, this is the pullet I would take. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her!!!

I am very curious if anyone has a comment about the coloring I am seeing on the underside of those copper freathers?

Keara, I'm sorry - my gray matter went spinning to another direction yesterday. I'm spinning about 15 plates in the air right now - ha!

VERY interesting...I still haven't looked at my guy; we've had record high temps and it's super humid...so I've been concentrating on cooling their water and making sure they have plenty of shade, and that's about it. Don't want to stress them by chasing one around. But, I will definitely do so.

Is there a chance you can retake the pics so they are in focus better?

gosh I really hope we do not get the heat, here in vermont, the rest of you all have been dealing with!

I will take more photos tonight, I did these when the big man was roosted for the night. I think I will try to get a shot of the girls feathers too and see if they are the same way. Like I said before I have seen this now on three different lines. I have not yet looked at the birds I got from you as they are still on the young side.
