NYRED... I think.... said if he had 2 BCM roos one with Copper on the neck and one without..... He would pick the one WITHOUT copper everytime with everything else being equal.

I miss read that... you are talking about HENS not ROOS... NONE on hens. Just copper in the hackles on hens.

Quick question: Do all Marans have to have feathered legs? My roo does not, and I showed him this past summer but received no comments about it from the judge. I've never raised them before, so I would've know. Can someone help out? Is he a mix? That may be the case because the breeder we bought him from was not reliable, as we later found out. He looks identical to the ones pictured above, minus the feathered legs.

Clean legs are a DQ and are required to breed to the SOP... If he is mixed I would not use him to breed Marans.
