Cool pic Geebs. That's proof it's out there. I think Co/Co. The dutch are some smarte breeders. I'd go with what they say.

I am still trying to wrap my brain around the last post.. forgive me.. I am slow... Once I get it plugged into my head I am good to go... just takes me a while... Okay.. the presentation for wheaton that I watch for.. is bird with lighter eyes.... And sometimes at maturity they will look correct so when they are growing... (we are talking only males here) and the light shank... like wheaton... So it stands out to me like an overmelanised bird that has white legs.. It is like a puzzle piece out of place... It should be dark.. and the eyes should be dark with that much melanisers but there is a restrictor... in the shank...

Now off to ponder and re read last post.

Can some you tell me if these are BCM's? I got them at Ohio Nationals,sold to me as BCM's and either they are laying white eggs or some other chicken is sneeking in and laying. I do have other chickens so its possible .. here is a few pics

What do you all think?

Sometimes the female BCMs will not get thier copper until later especially if they are going to be dark girls. I also think 20 weeks is young. I think it has been usually around 24 weeks for most of my marans with the wheatens a little longer sometimes.

Ok all this dark talk Could y'all look at this guy and see what you think. These pics are about a two weeks ago at around sixteen weeks old. I have noticed last time I got to look at him in good light that he seems to be showing a little more color. Man this sure is fun!

He is exactly the contradiction we are talking about.. you would expect BLACK legs and Dark eyes with that presentation.. but they are not there.. anticipate some strange breeding results... would cross with much lighter bird and see what pops out.. If you are looking for a critique I would be happy to oblige.

Fog - yes, those are VERY dark (overmelanised). Some of the darkest I've seen.

Geebsie/VC - note his black saddle feathers. Light eyes, would seem that they should be dark being overmelanised, but he's not. Hmm....what do we think? Ear coverts are dark, too. I see the items, but I'm frustrated, as I don't know what they all mean TOGETHER.

Fog - so, this boy has an excellent angle of tail; his back is of good length, but he's too uphill. It apears he's holding his wings at angle (they should be held horizontally) but I don't think that's a big deal. He looks like he's a good size - appears to have a nice, broad chest. I'm NOT an expert by any stretch, though!

If he were mine, I would put him with girls that are mossy. Perhaps that cross would = a more well balanced color?
