Wynette, Will post on the selling the Marans when we know that there is a problem with the adult stock. Will state what I think for the last time here on BYC. I think that knowingly selling eggs and stock from Marans that have DQ that will breed forward is basically FRAUD and no one should have to pay good money when Marans are sold with the owner knowing they will produce Culls.
The selling of Cull Marans as good breeder fowl is the largest problem with new people trying to get a decent start in Marans. If we know our line is producing mostly cull young fowl we should cull them out of our Marans flock. There is no way we can improve the BC Marans if we continually sell the culls to anyone willing to buy.
Ethics is very important in my life so would hope it would be elsewhere.

Yes, he was from some Marans coming from eggs I bought 4 year ago. I should also say that you will get Straw and Mahogany from this same bloodline.

I agree with a post earlier saying that the BC Marans will not breed true. Anyone saying they have never had a wheat or Mahogany hatch from their BC Marans just has not hatched very many. The straw are few and far between but they still will show up. All three of these colors are supposed to show up as this was the reason they did not go into the APA as Brownreds.

so from what i gather, you have copper, straw and mahogany as the 3 main color variants in the black coppers hackles? mahogany being the really dark to straw being almost yellow. correct?
