Does anybody know anything about Cackle Hatchery's Black Copper Marans they have recently started offering? I know it's unlikely anybody has experience with them yet since this is the first year they're offering them. I'm mostly wondering if anybody knows where they got their stock. I think their new Chanteclers came from a good source.

I had a few BCM hens a few years ago, I enjoyed them and their dark eggs. I was ordering from Cackle anyhow so I ordered five BCM pullets.

If i breed my marans as follows what should i get?

1. Black Copper Marans Rooster to a Black Copper marans Hen?

2.Blue Copper Marans Rooster to a Black Copper marans Hen?

3.Black Copper Marans Rooster to a Blue Marans Hen?

4.Black Copper Marans Rooster to a Blue Copper Marans Hen?

5.Blue Copper Marans Rooster to a Blue Copper Marans Hen?

6.Blue Copper Marans Rooster to a Blue Marans Hen?

7.Splash Marans Rooster to Splash Marans Hen?

8.Black Copper Marans Rooster to a Splash Marans Hen?

A couple of those combos will give you a Blue Copper Marans. You will have to start with a Black Marans to get a Black Marans, they are VERY hard to find. Alot of birds will show no copper but are still Coppered birds in their genes. I would not mix your Cuckoo with any o the others. Look around on the Marans club sites. Maybe someone will post a link I do not have one.
