you're nicer than I am.I have two people in my family who refuse to eat backyard eggs. We actually have to buy store eggs just for them.
The rule in this house is you either eat what I put out or go hungry.

No expert at all, but what I see is a LOVELY tail angle. I'd like to see him less "scrunched" at the base of his neck so we could really see his backline. Photos from top, front and back are also helpful to give a more 3D photo "description" of him for evaluation of width and substance. Pretty sure I see shank feathering there...unable to see eye or ear coloring but would like the hackles to match the shoulder color and to see more copper on the saddle. How old is he?
Why not use a black out of blacks? That is what I have been doing, the past couple of years, because I can't seem to hatch a decent Blue Copper cockerel.
That's a good idea, the excerpt. Isn't it crazy, people want local, farm-raised, not factory-farmed eggs, but then they see something a little out of the ordinary and they get the ICK factor.
I have blood spots with some of my 2nd generation buff orpingtons. It's not just Marans.I have some with mine, they will be a year in April and it's gotten LOTS better.
It's funny, the people that take my eggs I start to explain it to and they stop me and say they know all about them. They usually had chickens in their family when they were young.
And I've got about 6-7 different people wanting eggs, and they can't get enough of them.
Usually people understand. If they don't, you can always put a little excerpt about them for her to hand out to them once.
I have 4 BCM's, none are show quality and I purchased them from a local person who, I found out later, just resells the chicks after she buys them from a hatchery. No problem since I don't want to show, etc...but anyway...I like their eggs.
The bird in the back has always had light eyes. Which bird has the correct color eyes in the photo? The light eyed bird also has a funky comb but lays very large eggs and has since she began laying in November.
Thanks.
Tammy,
The lighter colored eye is proper. It's called reddish bay.
