Can u sex bcm at birth? Im going to be getting some chicks and want help choosing females if possible

No, the BCM can't be sexed at birth. You will need to wait untill they are about a month old to accuratly sex.

Wonder when these bird are pass their prime?is it three year like must.

I don't any other Leghorn of Marans laying charts scanned in, but I it seems like the White Leghorns dropped to about a 225 eggs in thier second year.

I know the first Marans hen I tracked laid 174 eggs in her first year. She had time off for being broody and actually laid more eggs in her second year than her first year. My top Marans layer laid around 200 eggs a year. They don't lay as often as the White Leghorn but they lay bigger eggs and since they arent prone to internal problems after thier first laying season lay a lot longer than commercial hens.

Why am I having a hard time attaching pictures to this thing... it is telling me I don't have permission. I wanted to upload a picture of a rooster I am thinking about.

If you come to get the Am this weekend, I can show you 3, 7, and 10 week old chicks so you can see the difference. I can't tell at birth, have a pretty good idea by 3 weeks, and am certain by 6 weeks

Both of my marans roos, BCM and cuckoo, are very good roosters

I hatched some BCM eggs on 10/16. This is my first time having marans, so lots to learn. Anyways, this little guy (I'm assuming cockariel) is starting to show copper on it's wings. Is this typical of males at such a young age or too early to tell sex? He stands very upright even for 6 days old.
