Black Copper Marans discussion thread

I worried the same thing before putting mine in. The mist is so fine that it evaporates and cools the air. If it were a sprinkler something the water would be hot. What are the temps where you live? It's around 110 degrees where I live and the misters work great.

Normal temps around here are more like 95-99 in the summer months. I am not sure how often we will be getting these 110-115 temp now that they are happening. I thought if I buried the water line the ground might cool it down as well.

Burying the water line is a great idea, didn't think about that.

Ground temps here are usually 70ish degrees in the summer, that should provide a nice change. I mean 20+ degrees cooler than the air temps would be quite the relief. If you dig them fairly deep ground temps are more around 60 degrees.

Does anyone know if this BCM is a rooster? He or she is 4 months old. I'm pretty sure it's a roo but was expecting more rooster plumage by now.

And the pick below is the one I think is a rooster with a hen for comparison.

Thanks for any help, I'm hoping he turns out to be a roo :)
