Ok, now what do you mean by "lower half of the bird?" Hopefully, not the belly area?? Mine are green on their backs and sides, breast is black no flecking
Just thought I'd pop in and post a couple pics of the parent stock of ADozengirlz babies (from my flock). Something to tide you over until she posts more pics later.
Not the greatest pictures to show conformity but you can at least get an idea of end result. I have some more chicks I hatched this past week too I'll take some pics and post those too later.
oh and just for fun, a pic of some eggies-with ones OE egg in the middle. Always room for improvement but egg color is coming along.
Nope. All beetle green is on the hard feather areas of the back and sides/wings.
No one here on this forum, myself included has a perfect bird... I doubt they exist... It is like a unicorn...We all know what one looks like but they live in our imagination... we are just discussing theory and striving.... I just want to encourage lurkers to post their birds.. faults and all.. We all put our pants on one leg at a time.
Thanks for you guys that a BOLD!!! and fearless for taking the time to post this thread...!!!!! Lurkers watching... The nature of this author (geebs) is always toward stewardship and kindness.... Just in case I get all geeky from time to time.
.. just go look at my "hi from geebs" on my page... I am always smiling atcha!!!
I'm dying here waiting for 6littlechickies to get back to me.....but I gotta know......walk with me here for a minute?
I am going to assume that if I was looking at this bird from the side that I would see that same toned copper throughout the bird and maybe a tad darker on the wing bow.....my point being, how did he end up with this rich and abundant copper, nice eye color, light beak and nice darker shank color and nice ear covert color? I would have been expecting a darker beak and a darker eye, (edited to add again) and perhaps possibly I would have expected a darker ear covert as well, thinking that IMO, he may express over all as a darker specimen, again this is all assumption as I cannot see the whole bird, I just find it intriguing how the genetics in this bird expressed.
Please 6littlechickies understand I am NOT critiquing your rooster at all.
