I've been at the kippenjungle genetics website a hundred times, and I don't know why I don't remember ever reading this: "Melanotic is dominant, especially for the females, and is able to make "extended black" and "birchen" based animals full black."
Now according to Blackdotte Melanotic is NOT enough to make birchen based birds full black, but maybe he means hens and roosters. Just another reason to single breed for the right hen color. Maybe breeding correct BCM is always going to be like breeding Andalusians... you always get some of the "wrong" color while breeding for the right one.
