Well I was hoping that some of you could evaluate my Roo. He is from my first hatch with my homemade incubator 6 months old , and I think he will be a good entry for my 9 year old daughters 4H. Don't worry Im not sensitive , give it to me straight. Thanks guy's and gal's , Have a blessed Day! check my bator out if ya have time on my page. It's bad to the bone

Spitman, can you get some better pics showing this guy's conformation, from the side, down at his level? It's really difficult to tell much due to the angle. Looks to me like his coloring is a bit dark, but again, hard to tell. Looks like his eyes are correct, beak correct color, legs look to be the correct color, his shank feathering is a bit sparse (should go all the way down the shank and the outside of the outer toe). Looks like his tail angle is good, maybe a bit low, but that's better than a squirrel tail!

Its really hard to evaluate a bird from pictures taken up above the bird.

Sit on a bucket, and take 50 picutures of the bird at his level. We need to see a good whole side view, close up of his head. A shot at the feet. Then, we can give you a real good evaluation.

Wynette when you read this post know that I have tried to contact you and that your mail is getting kicked back.

Sorry guys I am busier than a one legged man in a butt kickin' contest... I will post progress of my babies in a week and a half... That shoult be a relax time in my hectic schedule.

I am seriously due to post a progress picture of my baby as he/she matures.. Small update: I thought it was a she at 3 days old...then it Seriously took on cockerel presentation... I am thinking again that it is a hen... Wheaton baby is a female..

I hatched what are supposed to be bantams but they are not bantam size nor even close.. Time will tell...THey have no feathers on the shanks and have yellow legs... I will proceed forward and see what I can make of em.

I am going to take some pictures this weekend of the remaining chicks for our 6 month photo study. I am now to 3 cockerels and 1 pullet for the study. . . . These chicks are about 9 weeks old now

I have learned a lot with taking the pictures already. It has forced me to look closely at things that I would of missed before.

It has been time consuming, but I think it was worth it!

Do you have any pics of when they were 2 weeks? and what sexes they turned out to be? I am trying to determine my 2 week olds now. The combs still do not scream roo or not at this point - I am told they will soon...

The combs really don't SCREAM it at this age - - - - but look real close and you will start seeing the pink wattles showing up on the cockerels. Between 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 weeks you will see the color start to show up on those wattles.

The picture of the second cockerel ( the one with only a pink band) ended up having the BIGGEST comb of all 7 cockerels. He was the first to crow - - -weeks ahead of the others. That nasty boy actually got behind me and tried to do the one leg wing dance when he was only about 7 weeks old. . .. Needless to say, bad boy with the attitude did not make the cut. . .... . He is on his way to freeer camp!
