Bravo and Don, Yes, that's it! I went out to the run to check my boys, and all roos have it. Like I said before, my pullets don't have enough copper to tell, well at least for me. I would need a magnifyer!
The sun has set behind the hill here, so too dark for pics. If it isn't raining tomorrow, I'll try to get some of mine.
VC, I am using a lighter coppered boy (my foundation roo) in a pen with Wade Jeane hens, some of which are almost all black. My foundation roo does have hackle and saddle stripes. So far they have been producing some ok boys (the pic in my last post) but the copper in the hackles is still not as dark as I'd like it to be. The pullets, however have been lovely. They all seem to have a very nice balance of copper in them--not at all like their mothers.
This is the only pic I have right now but she's a 7 month old pullet out of my foundation pen.
Sure, will look tomorrow. But my girls are so dark, and the hackle feathers are so thin, it may be hard to see. Maybe my camera will pick it up? Your roo has the same coloration as my Pip roo. I had hoped to keep him back to try to lighten the hackles in my hens, but with his nasty attitude, I don't think it's going to happen. What a pain in the butt he is!

I am excited to see your pics! Hopefully they turn out. I can imagine about the 'tude. I have a few 11 week olds that are turning out to be quite little devils. For whatever reason 2 of them have recently decided to start picking on the dogs and then yesterday I had one of them try and chase me off. Normally my BCM roos are nice guys--perfect gentlemen-but this little guy is destined for the pot. If he keeps this up it will be sooner, rather than later LOL
This is a pic of my Roo and couple of the hens. I'm fairly new to BCM's so I'm not real sure what to look for but imho I think my boy looks pretty good.

I like the depth of his chest and his overall size, the shank color and feathering look good; do you have a side view?
On the con side, his tail angle is too high and his hackle color appears to be too light (straw) in this pic. The back might be a little short but it's hard to tell at this angle.

GOOD CALL on this youngbiddy. . .. I believe the STRAW hackle is a DQ.
Where have you been hiding at youngbiddy? Nice critque.
WELCOME Barred Rocker. .. WELCOME to the MARANS thread.
Thank you for posting pics of your stock.
Do you have another roo you could use for breeding purposes?
Finding a REALLY REALLY good BCM roo is going to be one of the hardest things you will ever do.
I know that for a FACT.
