Black Copper Marans discussion thread

I was going to post several pictures of pullets I have growing out, but the pics are taking forever to upload! Can you evaluate this one...good, bad?

whoa... Nice pullet... Well it is impossible to give a complete eval at a distance... Would like a shot of her width from the back... Her wattle looks kinda funny in the pic... I like the leg feathering.. super nice... I like the lenth of back... It will go a long way in correcting a lot of the short backed roosters we see... Love the amount of copper... THe black looks a little weak but it is still coming in so no worries. If I wanted to get super uber refined... and this is just me....I would work on the head some... She has a small head... I like a long head with a flat skull.. but like I said that is a super refinement and it is only my opinion... when you are making me reach that far... It is a nice pullet...

I would like to see the tail from the back, however.

Okay and here the head looks better... and the back shorter... but still really nice.. She is a little weak in the black in this photo as well.. THANKS for posting Harris5!!!

This was a different pullet. Learning here...what do you mean by "weak in the black?" And how do I fix it in the future? I will get a couple more pics and post those. Thanks, so much, Miss Geebs!!!

Cooleo... Both are nice..One has a shorter back... Just that the black isn't as black as it is going to be... It looks to have some light spots (could be photo) but I see a white feather also and I know that they are young so they are not "all there" yet.. I like pullet number one over pullet number two... But number two has a nicer head. (JUST MY OPINION) Nice pullets... you hatch em??? Are they from the Donna birds??

Yep! I hatched them all! I'm trying to 'listen and learn!' Thank you for all of your input! Pullet one is from your (Geebs) preferred rooster (Davis/Presley/Jeane) over (non-verified) Jeane pullets. Pullet two and three are out of Culpepper pullets/rooster.

This is one more pullet (sister to pullet number 2)
