I have no breedworthy ladies yet
I have 3, 5 week old pullets (and 3 roos I think...) and more day olds coming in a couple of weeks. It has just worked out this way. Hopefully the boys will still be fertile by the time I get them some worthy gals
No one said Rome was built in a day!
I will look closely at the black tomorrow and report back (maybe even with the flashlight tonight when I tuck them in). Different people have weighed in this time but a month ago, Roo #2 was voted the better boy. I think Don said that he could be used to make a lot of improvements. Any vote now Don?? Pink?? They have changed a lot in a month. Personally, I like the type of Roo #1 better and his colour is more pleasing to my eye but that means not much as far as who is the better roo. Of course, they all have + & - 's and the two are such a different type my hope is they will give me some breeding options. And, who knows, maybe one of the younger roos I have growing up will turn out to be better!
#1 has nice copper color..boy he sure is a chunk and a nice bird, but I still like roo #2 as well, I don't care for his comb, but combs can be worked with as long as he doesn't have sprigs or any other comb issues that will breed forward. His sparse leg feathering IMO does not count him out of the running for breeding, you can still use him if the girls that you
will have have nice leg feathering....you may not get perfect results the first couple tries with the offspring, but it can be done.
You might still want to keep both if you can until your younger birds grow.
