One thing I have recently learned was check the under feather fluff. If the birds base feathers are white the chances of him growing more white is probably inevitable. If he's black all the way down you have a good chance of it going away.
I hear you there. The truth that I have been finding out is there is not one breeder out there that can put out a bird without faults. Just not going to happen. The breed is to new and the Marans have influences from other breeds. So basically the way I understand it there is a difficult time ahead for us breeders. Good luck on your endeavors.I've been working at it for several years now, have wasted money on birds from supposedly *top breeders* and wound up with dog food birds.
I have gone through probably 6 generations already and this last batch, have some hopefuls but of course, won't know much until they are grown up etc., and producing.
