We have new Bev Davis/Wade Jeane chicks hatching out every Sunday. We just hatched our first 8 and all are healthy and ready to go. They are all feathered leg like their parents. We will be hatching 12 eggs this weekend and 18 the next and 20 the next, etc. So there will be plenty to buy from here on out. I have pictures of the eggs they came from, but haven't had a chance to take pics of the chicks themselves yet. If interested, just let me know and I can take pics of the chicks and parents to send you.

$9.00 per chick.

Shipping is using USPS flat rate expedited at $14.50 no matter how many chicks you buy.

They are just starting to come back after a molt. You can see one of them has started getting them back quite heavily, the rest are just following slowly. We were actually worried something was wrong with them, but I have a good friend who is a vet and she came out and said they were just molting (we are kind of new to the chicken thing so every little thing worries us). She checked them over good and gave us a thumbs up and said everything was A-okay. I feel kind of like I did as a new parent, worrying about every little thing at this point.

I agree how many hens do you have for those 4 boys? The ratio shouldn't be much blow 8:1.

That's what I thought too, but we've watched them pretty closely and haven't seen it, but we are going to try to cull out some of the roosters shortly and see what happens. We may have fertile eggs with the ratio being 1:1 right now, but it's hard on those poor hens in my opinion.

That is the problem I would say keep a lot of new pullets and cull all but your best two roosters. Keep the one of the roosters out to. 1 roo can easily keep 4 hens fertile and 1:1 is just really going to wear them out.
