Black Copper Marans

Greeting to one and all, long time no see.........

I am the party that sold the eggs to John in Wa that resulted in the parent stock, that bred and prduced the chick in question.

That's right, it is NIVTUP's fault

John did just contact me today.

Our birds are of Wade Jeanne lines. Once seperated from what I understand, we bought our birds from Fitz Farms if that is of importance to the discussion.

We have not yet seen a yellow chick hatch from the eggs we have set, oh, probably a couple of hundred or so.

There obviously is a possibility that there is Wheaten in the line, I think the chick shows that to be true.

So, let's talk about how "I would also ask for your money back frmo whoever you bought eggs from. I don't care if it is a year later. You were not sold "copper black marans" eggs. you were sold cross bred marans eggs."

These birds have not been crossed with anything since I hatched them. Period. We selected parent stock based on conformation, coloring, feathering of shanks, and comb, in that order. There is no blue in our BC's.

Since I do not perform DNA testing of my chickens, how exactly would I know they have a wheaten gene? I will tell all I know, when I know it. I am still unable to see the future though

.

If you check my posts on the eggs offered and sold here and on ebay or eggbid I would think you will find that I offer up full honesty in all offerings. Look for my postings on our Golden Cuckoo Marans, there is no way there could be any more disclosure than what has been provided.

Let's all not be so quick to judge, and be so quick to throw stones.

Hurry through the baby out with the bathwater.

Trust me, if I had known, I would be focused on developing "Don's line" of Wheatens.

Good day.

BTW, not mad, not insulted, not upset. Just thought I would provide some fact for the conversation.

I dont think i woud kill the chicks. Try selling them. Here even if the chickens are mixed people buy like crazy. I woudl try and post them on craigslist if you dont want them. but other than that i am no good with the gene stuff.

Nivtup --

I certainly wouldn't recommend asking for money back, and I suspect that anyone who did recommend such a thing just hasn't hatched enough BCMs of their own to find all the surprises, yet.

I just hatched three BCM eggs this morning. Guess what I got? Three guesses, and the first two don't count.

Two little black balls of fluff, and one little yellow one.

ETA: and I'll point out that the birds I hatched that little yellow chick from are *claimed* to have been pure French blood, imported 5 years ago (not Wade Jeane) and not mixed with anything else since then. I have no proof of that one way or the other, but it would be a very bad idea for anyone to assume that French birds don't have the same problems that the US birds do.

Hey there --

There are plenty of breeders over here in the East, especially Georgia and TN. Don't worry, we can fix ya up!

You should come to the show in Newnan GA next month. It's roughly a 4 hour drive for you. If you come, somebody should be able to bring eggs or chicks for ya.
