Black Copper Marans

Outside of the lineage of the BCM, I would just like to say that these are the sweetest birds I have ever raised. I can walk up on any of my biggest boys (they do get big) and just bend and pick him up. My girls actually have conversations with me while I'm holding them. Start handling them young, they may seem flighty until they get beyond the teenage stage, but don't stop interacting with/holding or touching them and you'll have awesome little pets with benefits.

My birds are of mixed lineage. Little bit of Ron Presley, some Wade Jean/Bev Davis. I do have a very, very nice full on Wade Jean rooster. But for me, I'm after the beautiful egg basket and my plus is that the birds are not only beautiful, but sweet. I don't intend to breed or sell eggs to anyone who is looking for any standards higher than what I have to offer.

Thanks to all for your advice. It is easy for a novice to get discouraged as this chicken business becomes more complex the more you learn about it. For now I will just concentrate on keeping the ones I have healthy and wait and see what kind of eggs they will lay.
