When breeding black crested white polish, do they not breed true? I hatched quite a few chicks, some chicks are all yellow in down, some have the chipmunk appearance in gray. They're about a week old, now I see wing feathers come in black and white, in the all yellow chicks, wings are white. Some have lighter gray and white
What's going on?

I thought they'd all come out looking the same.

Thanks for any help!

I think you can get white crested blue and whites out of white crested black, but I'm not certain.
Ohhh!!!! Is that so? I wouldn't complain! Lol
That is awesome. I just thought they'd breed true. Kept the best, of the best. Just to improve crests. Parent stock aren't all that bad. I didn't know they'd throw WC blues, or whites.

These are black crested white, and not white crested black? Some do look like Ideal's black crested white chicks. There seems to be a lot of variation. It's possible they could use white crested blacks to maintain the coloration. However none will be blue.

I'd think that a hatchery would sell breeds that breed true, unless otherwise stated. These are pretty black crested white polish. Their offspring however are different shades...I dunno.
