Looking nice. A little less spangled on the back than some of my worst hens, but I see the silver laced cross doesn’t help out with breast spangling.

How are the BCW x Buff Orpington chicks feathering out?
The goal for the Silver Laced x BCW was not to clean the bodies of black. That cross is to improve vigor and type. Because BCW are poor in both. The cross with buff Orpingtons was to get the right genes for clean, no black bodies. But Orpington have a completely different type which must be dealt with after clean bodies are produced. So both crosses are needed to get anything resembling a Polish with black crest and clean white bodies. All the years of trying to get them from line breeding didn’t produce any that I'm aware of? I would love to be proven wrong.

Good. I have culled this year's chicks down to about 3 dozen. They are 2 to 4 months old. Every one of this year's hatches fall into some sore if cross. Therefore none have everything I'm looking for, but many are promising.

Love the birds in the right picture! Those two look great, incredibly promising for your project.
