Black crested White Polish

Pics
Have you ever thought of starting for scratch, like breeding a buff polish to a moorhead silkie and then just breeding for the bcw colouring and polish traits. It would give some new blood to would with and it might help with the colouring issues you are having over time. Although it would take a bit of breeding to get the back to standard. Its just a thought.

I

I understand the interest in creating your on line of bcw polish. I myself was thinking of trying to create a black crested white silkie or a bcw polish as we dont have them in australia or option 3 a new breed altogether. The new breed would have the bcw colouring with blue/ green speckled eggs that look like dino eggs, silkie feathers with long legs and heat hardiness. As you can tell i dont want much of a challenge in my projects :wee:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau.
The eggs would look something like this. inspiration pics below, - not my pics. Sorry about going off topic

Procuring both other colors/breeds to reproduce BCW would be far more costly than working with my own birds. I'm not aware of breeders for either color.

Buff laced maybe but that'd introduce dominant white, and I have no clue about moorhead.

It would introduce new blood but also silkie traits, like black skin and polydactly. Also the gold/silver mess I am currently trying to escape lol. Using a plain buff breed may be easier to introduce new blood to a line.
The Ideal birds have issues but they also have the basic traits you need- just messy. It'd be costly to start over from the beginning, as compared to trying to see what I can fix with the current birds.

Those eggs are pretty. I'm curious how closely you could replicate them.

how are the bcw polish doing?
Haven't been on in a while so let me try to cover everything tonight before i forget again. sorry about how long that took to respond..:tongue

Been super busy and will continue to be super busy so this is going to grind to a snail pace soon. Will be gone all summer, so I may/may not end up with chicks this yr.

Gold pullet(i assume) started laying between last thursday and saturday. silver pullet is reddening in wattles but i didnt snag any pictures.

i will move them in the next few weeks. i do not want to stress them above all else plus their eggs are tiny right now so not even worth it to hatch. after i do get them moved, ill need a few weeks to make sure one of my bantams didnt father any chicks. theyre in with bantam cochins and ameraucanas right now. I may/may not do one clutch March-April.
