I had a duck that was broody, she’s not yet a year old. We let her sit on 12 eggs but they slowly got eaten down to 3. It’s the last week of incubation and it felt easier to move them to the incubator than separate her from my flock of 35 since I’m pretty sure the other ducks ate the eggs when she would leave it. When I picked them up (I carried them in a warm, wet towel to the incubator) and two look black all over and when I candle, I haven’t seen movement. I assume they are dead. Do you know what causes the black in the egg? Pic for reference.

It's either fully developed or dead. I can't tell from images when they're that far along. Do you ever see baby kick?
There is no movement. I imagine they are dead like you said but what makes the shell so black inside?

The large black area is the dead duckling. The egg pictured is dead, looks like it died recently. The discoloration is the veins breaking down and pooling, causing a bruised looking appearance.
