Black egg?!?! Rotten or baby ?

It was suppose to hatch yesterday but no peeps or pips. However mama seems extra protective so I'm wondering if it's a sign they are close to hatching. They are large breed eggs and I read sometimes they take longer to develop. Hoping that's true

I checkedtge eggs and they still haven't hatched . They also smell bad but Rey are wet so it's possible she peed on them. Should I toss them ?

If they smell bad I don't think that's a good sign but I also would not toss them yet because I would be too paranoid that some may still be good! Can you take them one at a time inside in a dark room and candle them to see if you can see any movement? look really hard and be careful

pick them up one at a time and give them a light shake. If you feel any movement or sloshing feeling they are no good . if they look discolored in anyway they are no good.

I'll try shakin em. I can't see any movement it's way to dark. I'll keep y'all posted. My other broody is doing good though. She's got 4 turning black and lots of movement
