Has anyone heard of this breed having feathers on their feet? I'm about to acquire 3 from a friend who does not have space for them. I do not currently have any pictures. This individual knows chickens better than he knows anything else, and is just as puzzled by this as well. He purchased them as fertile Black English Orpington eggs and they hatched with feathered feet. Any ideas?

Actually some English Orpingtons do have light feathering it’s considered a fault but you see it pop up here and there. From what I understand ideally these birds should not be bred. I am no expert though so I will see if@ColtHandorf and @Faraday40 can help.😊
I am curious what the odds are of all three having faulty leg feathers. Thank you

There is a black marans they would have feathered feet and be closer to the body type of a black orpington.
He and I both have orpintons and Maran in our flocks. I don't really see any distinguishing maran features other than the feet feathers.
