Black floating dot in eggs

I got some button quail eggs and it is very hard to candle them but I tried. I saw a black dot that floated to the top off the egg whichever way I turned it... is that possibly the embryo? I thought the embryo stayed in the same place though? Or could it be my embryos died and that's blood?

You don't mention what day you are on, but it may very well be the eye of the embryo. Generally if early embryos have died there will be a visible blood ring in the egg.

It's day 9. I just find it strange that the dot always floated to the top? Surely that can't be normal?
