Black Fly Irradication?! Help!

We have a serious Black Fly problem on our acreage. I lost one hen to suffocation when she was swarmed by gnats in her broody breaker a couple wks ago and now I have another hen acting lethargic and suspect she had gone broody and was bitten by the flies. Our evergreen trees were buzzing with millions of the suckers and now they have scattered from the trees to my yard and runs. How can I kill these things without using something that will be toxic to my flocks?!

I use fly tapes quite regularly in the summer. They attract and trap flies. They almost eliminated my fly problem last year!

Black Flies are terrible......not your 'normal' flies!
Spraying poison all around is not going to put a dent in them, and it will dent a lot of other things. Vanilla in coop and windows, a fan to disrupt their flight.
Supposedly they don't like to inside..when they get carried into my house by the dog they swarm the windows.
They usually only live for a few weeks, then the higher temps finish them off.
Where are you located?
Do they look like this 3.5mm long?

I have nothing to add except my experience is the permethrin that Kiki posted worked well enough for me, it just isnt very long lasting. @Loupup98 this is a very serious matter though please do everything you can. i lost 41 quail to those things.
