I have never done a black friday sale, and I have no idea what to expect. I'm going to wal mart for a sale, and I need to know what to expect. Can I go in, get the item, and then wait till 5am to check out?? Or will they not even put the item in my hands till 5am??? I don't have a problem sitting in the store for however many hours I have to, but what should I expect? Do I have to park in front of the item till 5am, or can I actually get it out of the case??? I think that was redundant....I'm trying to be prepared!!!

You're in for an experience.

If you want something get there early as possible and wait in line.

I called and asked how they do it, and they said I can go in whenever I want to and just line up. I'm planning on being there at 10pm, or right after dinner....whichever is earlier. I just don't know if they'll give me the item when I ask for it or if I gotta wait till 5am before I can even put the item in my cart....

I worked at walmart for 2 years and they put the things out that are on the blitz sale in the early hours of the morning like 2am. You can go into the 24 hour stores, but you cannot purchase at that price until 6am when the sale starts. Usually the main page items are roped off and you cannot put them in your basket until 6 also. So just what is it that they have on sale???

BAD NEWS .... they usually shut down the store night before , say midnight to STOCK HEAVY for the next day . So , store opens at a certain time and you best bring your robe slippers and a pillow . you will pay dearly just to get waited on . ITS CRAZY , and that my dear is a total understatement . I went once and swore , " never again " Endless lines and every checkout is FULL , like wrapped around the building . and I am dead serious . we have 4 super walmarts here and they all the same .2 super targets and Malls are even worse .

I'm not sure what they have on sale, but I'm looking for cameras. Those go in the cases, so I don't know if I'm gonna be able to ask an employee to get it out before 5-6am or if I gotta wait till 5-6am....I know other stuff gets roped off, but I'm not after that stuff....just electronics....keep posting guys, I'll be back in a few hours!!!

I waited outside on the sidewalk for a Nintendo Wii on launch day two years ago...I've also done the Black Friday thing several times. I can tell you that if you don't mind waiting, Black Friday shopping can be a lot of fun. Make sure to go with a friend or two and make a day of it; plan to go out for lunch, etc.

Just go with the mindset that traffic will be horrific, you will be waiting in line a LOT, some people will be rude and crazy, and you might not get everything you wanted to end up with. Usually, I go on Black Friday without any specific goals for what to get. I play it casual and just see what is available. It ends up being an adventure, and I usually find some really good deals (plus, the people watching is spectacular!).

Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. High-heeled boots are a definite NO. Wear a warm shirt so you can leave that heavy coat in the car. Bring entertainment like a cell phone with the Internet, iPod, Nintendo DS, etc. so that standing in line is more entertaining.

If you are a type-A person who has a short temper, just stay home and shop online.

Black Friday is amusing, but it's not for the impatient or easily annoyed.
