Testing out a homemade incubator. 8 eggs, dad is blue isebar, 1 blue isbar hen egg, 1 blue isbar splash hen egg, 1 leghorn hen egg, 1 LO/blue andelusian hen egg, 1 english bantam hen egg, 3 blue cochin bantam hen eggs (smooth legs). I am mostly interested in the blue cochin eggs but put some others in for extras. I Like blue chickens. They are due after Black Friday. Nov. 26. I have made many incubators, not too worried about whether it will work, just though it would be fun to hatch along with others who are hatching at the same time.

Hey there! I just joined your hatch along just in time. I put 6 assorted silkie eggs in my incubator. I couldn’t help myself, I wanted one last splash of color in my coop before the grueling winter season comes. My chicks are supposed to hatch exactly on Black Friday so let’s see what happens. And please post pictures and updates with your eggs to! I can’t wait to see the results!

I will tell you what the pics are. 1. is a ice chest top glass flap on top, I lift flap to turn eggs. There are 7 now, the bantam was not fertile. The eggs are in a small wire basket with a small wire basket under eggs, so the eggs are not resting on the floor of the ice chest, and they do not touch the edges of the chest. The temp is at 102, (best for still air) I have made many incubators, I am trying a new design with this one,

pic 2. is the side end of the chest and the opposite of where the egg basket is. the bulb is on this end, note the air holes at the bottom of the chest, they are under the bulb, the idea is to draw in cold air, under the bulb, heat rises then there are holes above the eggs on the other end and I hope air flow/draw. chest is 13''tall x16'' wide x17 long.

3. Here is a look at the bulb (15 w), it is not touching foam and there is space, it is a clamp lamp that is secured in up right position. There is a small bowl of water, with a penny in the water that is dated before 1982, I like to keep water dishes small. There is a cardboard wrapped in foil heat shield. and is pretty much it, it is in a closet.

4. is an egg shot at almost day 3.

It is holding heat good, the temps haven't been too weird here yet. There will be one over night I will be gone during the hatch, but not worried.

2 egg pics are same white egg one day apart. Day 4 or so.

I started with 8, 2 were not fertile a green one and the bantam. I have 6, non-fertile eggs don't count, so 6/6.
