black hen, what is she, besides crazy ?

i have this black hen, she is very skittish. I have never seen her lay anegg or be in box, other then to sleep. she waits til after i let them all out then she will come back in to eat. won't let you anywhere near her. she comes in two hours earlier than everybody else. thanks

the white on her face is different than that on the white face spanish on feather site. it is just a very light coloring.

I bet she is a minoraca and they have a reputation for flightness.

i was thinking she was a minorca because she is crazy. but she has a white feather on her wing?? must be mixed with something? just wanted to know if that was what you guys thought she was. so she would be laying large white eggs?

If she is a minorca, expect her comb to get really big. She could also be a black andalusian. I don't know about the white feather - maybe it's just random?

She maybe a black Penedesenca, that breed is a very flighty breed, they have a white ear lope[or a mother of pearl color] and lay really dark eggs. The roos and some of the hens will have a "Y" at the end of the comb, the roos will have a really large comb also. They will also have blue/gray looking legs...............good luck................

Looks like a Minorca but is NOT a good quality one.

White feathers are a DQ in Minorcas. That being said...MANY birds have white feathers in their wings and tails. Others have "tips" that are known as "stress" feathers. Either way...NOT good for shows.

Her face is also on the downside because she could be mistaken for a White Faced Black Spanish. The white from her earlobes kind of "leaks" into her face and is not supposed to happen except for VERY old birds.

It tends to happen in cockbirds more but again...should only be seen in older cocks if seen at all.

Good thing I just want them as pets. I don't know how old they are. The person I got them from said two yrs old. But she tried to tell me the little ones in the other pics were 4 months old. Which I knew wasn't true. Than she said two months. I wish people would just tell the truth. It would help a lot.
