Black Maran vs Black Copper Maran

Are black marans a different bird from black copper marans? I have a solid black one. What color eggs will she lay?

Yes, black and black copper are indeed two different colors of bird. However some black copper's have very little copper.

They should still lay a brown egg and hopefully nice and dark.

Same breed just a @ different color variety. Posted 3 pics. First is a French black copper marans, second is a wheaten marans rooster and a wheaten marans hen. There is just a very subtle coloring difference in the roosters, look at the end of the wing, but the hen is crazy different. Hard to believe the 2 are same variety.

I chose the wheaten marans because I think the hens are super good looking.

Some BC Marans will hatch pure black colored and just remember they very seldom will produce Black chicks.
