Black Mottled Cochin X Silkie (UPDATED the Results are in!)

This is my Barred Rock Cochin Bantam x White Silkie. I just posted on this
Hen or Roo thread.

This one, we call hodgepodge is 12 Weeks old, starting to get a top hat and as sweet as can be.

Black skin and has 5 toes too.

By Barred Rock Cochin, do you mean it's a Barred rock crossed with a cochin? If you mean to say Barred Rock is its color you should just say Barred cochin, Barred Rocks are a breed of their own.

I've got to show off my babies, they are so cute. There are 5, one looks like a regular banty-not sure if it will be Japanese black tail. One of other two yellows-one silkie w/5 toes and black feet and the other with 5 toes and white feet. Number 4 & 5 look like the black mottled cochin and have 5 toes with white feet. They are just adorable!

Beautiful babies! So they are cochin x silkie? Will you post pics as they get bigger?

I just discovered this thread. I am also interested in crossing cochin x silkie to see if I can reproduce my beloved rooster boy liberace. I got him from someone who had all her chickens running together so we really don't know what he is crossed with - he looks just like a silkie but he has regular feathers.

I wonder if the next generation would have the silkie black skin, etc.

Cool! Congratulations on your adorable little ones!!!

Thank you. Are you wanting to cross him with another silkie or cochin? Either way he still might throw out those straight feathers. Is he cochin or silkie cross?

Hi! He is definitely a silkie cross - we suspect he might be crossed with cochin, but really don't know. I love the look of both breeds. Don't mean to hijack your thread but here is a pic of him:

If any of your babies turn out like this, I'll know what cross to make!

Very pretty roo. I'll try to keep this updated and we'll see how the mix goes and hope they don't molt all that black out as rareroo stated. My last little mix in the bator and pipping now. Hopefully by morning I'll have a another new chick and hoping that the hen will take it.
