I think I'm finally getting my head back on straight. Laynadon, I wanted to tell you a little more about my encounter with Coryza. I now have a closed flock of the original chicks. I gave most of them numerous daily shots of Tylan (antibiotic) to help them get over the symptoms, but yes, they will always be carriers. That's why I had a dog kennel in the house for the new chicks. I couldn't put the newbies in with the sickies, although none of the sickies have outward symptoms. I have added an ICU unit to the chicken coop, but it isn't done yet either. Sun is in the forecast for tomorrow, so I plan to make great progress. Sweet Maggie looks like she could have some Chow in her with the black spots on her tongue. She looks very sweet. From the top, Maggie looks like a long haired doxie I had a number of years ago. (He would sit funny sometime too....especially when he wanted to be in a spot where there wasn't enough room for his Looooong body.
Thanks for the kind words Oncearoundtheblock. I wish things would have turned out differently. I guess if I'm going to have lots of chickens, I'd better develop thicker skin....but that's easier to say than to do I'm afraid.........
Below is day one making my pallet coop.

Below is the pallet coop on day two

I'm building a slant roof so that should be fairly easy....Then I just have to add siding and fencing around the bottom, and the chicks can move in. I can build additions on the yard after I get the chicks settled in their new digs.
