I see this posted on the treat list, thank you very much to the person who created the list. Are the seeds shelled? I have a BUNCH of it and would sprinkle it around for the ladies, it's in the shell. Yes? No?

My girls eat the seeds with the shell on. They enjoy them, but it seems most of it comes right back out in their poop. When they eat it with the shell off, they seem to digest more of it. Just what I've observed.

Edit: They only get them as a treat once in a while, and not very much of it.

No reason to shell it, but it is high in fat so treat it sparingly. Mine get whatever falls out of the bird feeder.

Do your birds have access to grit, either naturally or supplemented? I don't see shells in my birds poops.

Oh yes, they have TONS of poultry grit, in several different sizes (plus their floor is coarse sand). I made sure of that. I think they just digest them fast.
